Roy Brown is America's first soul singer. He remains one of the great Blues lyricist's of all times. His material was recorded by Elvis Presley and Buddy Holly in the 50's and continues to be recorded to this day.

DrOriginally recorded in the early '80s featuring the cream of L.A. session players, as well as a number of New Orleans natives. Ronnie Barron has always been one of the great unsung New Orleans Piano legends. He produced Dr. John's first album "Gris Gris". He also played piano on the original Dr. John albums "Sun, Moon and Herbs", "Gumbo", "Hollywood Be Thy Name" as well as "Gris Gris". It is said Ronnie Barron is the missing link from the legendary black piano players - Professor Longhair, James Booker etc. - to the white players such as Dr. John.

Clearly there is no other artist comparable to Ernie K-Doe, a fact he frequently confirms. Ernest Kador was born February 22, 1936 at New Orleans' Charity Hospital. "On the day I was born the building (Charity) went to shaking and the walls went to trembling," claims K-Doe. "The people there was running and yelling because they didn't know what to do. Finally somebody aid "What's happening on the fifth floor?" The nurses said, "Ain't but one thing it could be. It has to be a boy child and it has to be a KDoe!".

Walk into any gift shop or poster shop in New Orleans and you'll invariably see the image of Professor Longhair. He's left his indelible image on that city long after his death. It's really something to attain Sainthood in a city where sinners rule. Living in the French Quarter, he was exposed to all sorts of Jazz, Dixieland and blues sounds emanating from the various clubs. His mother encouraged him musically; anything being an improvement on hustling tips on the streets. He settled on the piano and taught himself the unsyncopated style that we hear today.
