Henry Vestine joined the Canned Heat Jug Band formed by two blues record collector fanatics, Bob Hite and Al Wilson in 1965, who shortened their name to Canned Heat upon Henry joining. Canned Heat played Monterey Pop Festival in 1967 and had the hits 'On The Road Again' & 'Goin' Up The Country'. After which he left the band for the first of many times due to a reported dispute with other band members over his drug intake at a show at The Filmore in San Francisco just days before the Woodstock Music Festival in 1969.
